Formed in 2022 at the Madison Music Foundry, Adult Book Club has evolved into a powerhouse trio with a growing library of literature-inspired songs. Their second EP, Chapter II, was released on November 8 2024 and features all the hooks and books you could want in a collection of five rock songs. ​​​

Adult Book Club's music is a reflection of their diverse influences, drawing inspiration from various rock and punk subgenres as well as the pages of timeless novels. Their music can veer from pop punk anthems to emo ballads to metalcore breakdowns, sometimes over the course of a single song. 

 

And while song titles like Catcher in the Rye and Brave New World may make their setlist look like a syllabus for a high school English class, there is no required reading for an Adult Book Club show. “We use literature as a starting point for lyrical themes,” says bassist and primary lyricist Greg Kernisan. “Good books, like good music, tap into universal ideas and emotions. That’s what we seek to recreate, we’re not interested in telling a summary of the plot.”
